The Academy of Innovation is a STEM-based junior-high school that provides project-based learning opportunities for more than 400 students who excel academically. In 2018, it was the first-ever middle school in Mississippi to be chosen as a Leader In Me Lighthouse School. Due to the school’s growing success, it needed to expand its campus and upgrade its facilities, that would last well into the future.
This 68,000-square-foot facility needed to be state-of-the-art and boast a quality building envelope. The requirement for quality allowed Fabral to provide the best possible solution for their desired metal wall system.
The products used for the metal wall system of the school included the Silhouette HCF series, which features a horizontal concealed fastener system and Fabral’s mitered corners allowing it to achieve a sleek-dynamic design.
The Fabral team worked closely with the primary contractor, E. Cornell Malone, to ensure the right products were used and installed efficiently. When working on this project, Dan Edwards, General Manager for E. Cornell Malone Wall Panel Division, said, “It was an honor to be part of a project that will bring such opportunity to the children in our community. The building design was as innovative as the learning that will take place inside it and the metal details on the exterior of the building really elevated the design. From order to delivery, it was great working with the Fabral team and we are very excited about the finished result.” E. Cornell Malone is one of the largest full-service roofing companies throughout the Southeast region.
The Academy of Innovation officially opened its doors with a formal student-led ribbon-cutting ceremony at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
