Possessing bold design appeal, Fabral’s economical and versatile Fabral 7/8″ Corrugated panel was put to dramatic use at the Beacon Clarendon apartments in downtown Arlington, Virginia. While the facility’s 10 story and 6 story buildings feature high-end amenities such as granite countertops, reclaimed textured flooring, stainless steel appliances and floor-to-ceiling windows, traditional corrugated panels also contribute to the building’s luxurious feel. Offering design versatility at a thrifty price, its deep corrugations create shadows and dimension on this modern building’s exterior. As one of the first panel configurations offered to the metal roofing market, Fabral corrugated panels are also suitable for historic applications. When applied, the panels appear seamless as the waves smoothly overlap.
High-end living with a low-impact, sustainable lifestyle is important to residents of this 187 unit, LEED-certified building. Located less than a ten minute walk from two Metro subway stations, the surrounding mixed-use area allows residents to enjoy the best of city living. Balancing richness, affordability and flexibility, Fabral panels were chosen as a value engineering alternative to heavy gauge aluminum and copper specified for the project. Applied to in different colors to different surfaces, the panels create a harmonious whole without sacrificing style. Sheets, framing and trim were curved onsite to fit five rounded wall elements, including the large main glass block custom-colored in Brewster Gray. When painted Bright Copper Penny, the panels resist aging while mimicking the look of real copper on chimneys near the rooftop lap pool. To provide additional visual interest, a Medium Bronze finish was applied to the curved clad rotunda on the top floor.
Although similar materials are available elsewhere in the market, Fabral was chosen based on proven reliability and predictable lead times. Manufacturing roll schedules that are published 4, 6 and 8 weeks out allowed the installer to order and plan according to the project schedule.
