On November 11, 2023, the Leftwich Tennis Center celebrated its grand reopening after undergoing extensive renovations. Owned by the city of Memphis, this iconic facility embarked on a transformation journey starting in June 2021, ultimately culminating in a remarkable $26.5 million project completion. Now, as the proud home of the University of Memphis men’s and women’s tennis teams, as well as a welcoming hub for casual players, the center emerges rejuvenated and primed for action.
Spanning an impressive 200,000 square feet, the Leftwich Tennis Center features a total of 12 state-of-the-art indoor courts and 24 outdoor courts. With this expansive layout and modern amenities, it is poised to ascend as a leading tennis destination in the region, promising an unparalleled experience for both recreational enthusiasts and competitive players alike. Regardless of age or skill level, Memphians can engage in a diverse range of tennis programming tailored to their needs, from introductory classes for beginners to advanced coaching sessions for seasoned players.
Panel Exteriors made the strategic choice of utilizing Fabral’s 24-gauge Concealed Fastener Silhouette HCF Series in Charcoal for the metal walls in this particular project. This horizontal concealed fastener system offers a variety of profiles and configurations suitable for architectural, commercial, and industrial applications. Featuring one to four ribs, this robust and long-lasting wall panel system offers both design flexibility and high performance. Its interlocking sidelap conceals fasteners and allows for installation with or without clips, accommodating thermal movement seamlessly.
Scott Mitchell, CEO of Tennis Memphis, remarked, “The Leftwich Tennis Center symbolizes a significant investment in the sporting future of our city. It stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the generosity of our donors. We warmly invite all Memphians to join us and share in the excitement of tennis.”
