PTA Thrift Store
Carrboro, North Carolina
The $5.1 million expansion created 26,600 square feet of retail and office space in two buildings – roughly three times the size of the original store. The goal behind renovations included growth for local support for schools, increased jobs, and a pleasing community meeting space. The project included a community plaza and a larger, 71space parking lot, covering 1.4 acres on four tracts.
“This is going to make us much cleaner and a much better neighbor from an aesthetic standpoint,” Board of Aldermen executive director Barbara JessieBlack said, “we’re really excited about that.”
The building was designed with a slanted roof for a softer transition between the commercial area and nearby townhomes and houses. Fabral was chosen for the project as the only manufacturer to receive approval by the local appearance commission. The building features vertical to horizontal transitions using Select Series and Silhouette HCF Series panels in Slate Gray and Dark Bronze.
